History
Apart from its marvelous hip & happening casino the city also has a rich historical background. The city was founded on 1905 in the middle of a desert in Nevada. After undergoing various events for almost twenty years to make Las Vegas what it is stands now.
In the year of 1928 the very famous Hoover Dam was constructed which brought many skilled workers to this area. During the year of 1931 gambling was legalized in the city of Las Vegas while it remained illegal in the adjoining state of California. In the year of 1940, the city witnessed the construction of the very first hotel casino called El Rancho Vegas on the border of Mojave Desert. The next hotel that was unveiled was called Last Frontier both the hotels made huge profits mainly from its gambling population that lived in Las Vegas & its neighboring cities.
During the year of 1946 a famous wanted gangster of New York known as Bugsy Siegal who deal in various illegal betting activities built a huge luxurious hotel & named it Flamingo he had a vision of building a chain of hotels which are dedicated to gambling and entertainment. But sadly in 1947 he was shot in his Beverly Hills home although the legacy continued for many decades which were controlled by gangsters that lived in Las Vegas.
Today Las Vegas is nicknamed as sin city because it is considered as an oasis of gambling & entertainment place. It has a huge collection of largest hotels, tourist attractions in the world. It is one of the best ever rising cities in the USA, with up to 8,000 new residents inhabiting there every month and over 28 million visitors a year.
